ContextBox is a local-first browser extension that helps users collect selected text, readable page content, and local text or code files, organize them into groups, and copy the saved context for use with AI tools.
ContextBox processes and stores content only after a user action. This may include selected website text, readable page text, the page title and source URL, imported local file text, group names, item titles, item ordering, language, and theme preferences.
ContextBox does not collect personal identity information, health information, financial information, authentication information, personal communications, location data, or user activity for tracking purposes. ContextBox does not continuously record browsing history. A source URL is saved only when the user explicitly saves a selection or page, so the source can be shown with that saved item.
All saved snippets, groups, settings, and preferences are stored locally in the user's browser using Chrome storage. ContextBox does not require sign-in and does not upload saved content to our servers.
ContextBox does not sell user data. ContextBox does not transfer user data to third parties except when the user manually copies saved content and pastes it into another service.
ContextBox does not use remote code. All extension JavaScript and related code are packaged with the extension and run locally in the browser.
ContextBox uses sidePanel to show its interface, storage to save content locally,
contextMenus to provide the “Send to ContextBox” action, and activeTab with
scripting to read the current page only after the user requests it. ContextBox does not request
access to all websites and does not inject a script into every page by default.
ContextBox's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the user-facing collection, organization, editing, and copying features.
Users can delete saved snippets or clear groups at any time within the extension. Users may also uninstall the extension to remove locally stored extension data from the browser.
